Exploring
innovative approaches to working with textiles, this course includes
natural dyeing using rust and indigo and using batik onto these
dyed surfaces.
Sessions using an embellishing machine which works like a sewing
machine but does not use thread. Barbed needles go up and down and
fuse fibres together in a dry-felting process giving the user the
ability to create new fabrics and sculptural surfaces using all
manner of materials.
An introduction to free-machine embroidery, and using free-machine
embroidery with water-soluble fabric to create new surfaces.
Making a small creative sketchbook during the ten weeks using the
samples of work created during the sessions
